"Illegal mix of collations" Error on Upgrade

I'm upgrading to limesurvey191plus-build10494-20110712

I just did a fresh install with Fantastico and it was working, but I don't remember the version.

First I tried the comfort upgrade, then deleted everything and re-installed and tried the manual upgrade.

In both cased, I get this after logging in:

Illegal mix of collations (utf8_general_ci,IMPLICIT) and (utf8_unicode_ci,IMPLICIT) for operation '=': SELECT a.*, surveyls_title, surveyls_description, surveyls_welcometext, surveyls_url FROM `lime_surveys` AS a INNER JOIN `lime_surveys_languagesettings` on (surveyls_survey_id=a.sid and surveyls_language=a.language) order by active DESC, surveyls_title

I searched the forum and bug tracker and didn't find anything related.

Any suggestions?

With delete everything you didn't mean the database, right?

utf8_general_ci vs. utf8_unicode_ci

The collations are different.

I would start from scratch and create a new database and tables.

To fix your current installation you have to execute sql queries.

If you have phpmyadmin you might easily fix it with a few clicks.
