"newtest=Y" causing survey fail

New installation working fine after tweaking various settings as described in the documentation and here EXCEPT for one persistent error. Executing "Test Survey" brings up the message "Ce questionnaire n'a pas encore de question et ne peut être testé ou finalisé." (Yeah - it's in French, probably because I'm in France, but I've tried to set all settings to English ... but that's not really the problem).

The inactive survey (7 questions in two groups at the moment) exists and runs fine when clicking the link on the admin page or entering the URL directly into a browser, but NOT when I click "Test Survey" or the "Exit/restart survey" links in a running survey. The only difference that I can see is the inclusion of the parameter "&newtest=Y" in the failing URL.

No-one else seems to have reported this problem, so I'll accept that it's something to do with my local settings - but which ones? The problem did not occur when I used the limesurvey Demo on this same PC.

As tu commencé à traduire?

sid=34738&newtest=Y&lang=en - shows correct survey title and description, "contact" name and e-mail, but "no questions" message in French, even when called from the "Restart this survey" link in a correctly executed survey.

sid=34738&lang=fr and sid=34738&newtest=Y&lang=fr - no title, no description, no contact info, and "Ce questionnaire n'a pas encore de question" which I would have thought was the correct behaviour.

So if I'm right:
a) main language=en
b) 2nd language =fr

If your survey is already translated in french I don't understand why it's not working perfectly...:(
..and I hope that someone here can help you because for the moment I'm quiet stuck...

Is it possible to give us a link (or a file) to your survey?

No, there is no translation at all - the survey is aimed at a specific, English-speaking population. Using lang=fr in the URL returns no title or description which makes sense if there is no French version.

The survey URL is www.viatriskel.com/limesurvey/index.php?sid=34738&lang=en - (inactive). This works correctly, but when I exit and re-start (i.e. just adding in the &newtest=Y parameter) it finds the Title and Description but no questions. :S

Edit: Hmmm, no it doesn't - only if I call it from the link in the limesurvey admin panel. That's the first time I've tried it before logging in. This time the error is "You don't have permissions ..." - in English, which is how it should be, I suppose, for an inactive survey.

Hello,

What is your LS version ( complete version, with the last number) ?
Can you export the survey structure and put the file here ?

I've tried your survey (both activated & desactivated);
It's working like a charm with my local installation (using 1.91 10377 too)
Clear & restart working fine ..I get the whole survey...

Thank you all for your responses. I still haven't found out why there is a problem, but it is definitely local to the machine I've been working on. Following Benitov's "all OK" test, I booted up another PC with the same IP address, same OS and same browser version and everything works as it should. Obviously just one of those things ... :blink:
