It says that the mail wasn't sent because the demo mode is activated.
Is it possible to test the email sending in this mode?

Obviously not, but I can say that emailing at the latest 1.90 version does work fine for 99.9% of our users, otherwise there would be much more complaints.

I can only recommend to either use our hosting service at www.limeservice.com or ask an experienced Limesurvey developer to have a look at your system.

If emails can't be sent with the demo mode I don't understand why you told me to test on the demo mode. My problem being an email problem?

Because he probably didn't know before you tested it? ;-)

Did you test the version via SMTP? It is not too hard. If you have an email server, you just need to put in your account details and it will send via SMTP.

At the moment it is difficult to help, without having access to your server. Who is administering your web server? This person should be the best one to help. Because this seems to be more a server configuration issue, than a Limesurvey issue. However, without know your environment, even this can just be a good guess.

Yes, I tested with the smtp and I got the same problem. Emails sent but not arrived.

If there are no errors reporting when using SMTP and having SMTP debug mode enabled, there is no problem with your Limesurvey system but with your server.
