No smtpuser field in database was created by mtarzaim
Hi!

I have some troubles sending mails in my current configuration.
I need to authentify my SMTP connector as a "domain\username" and not as "username@domain.local" .
But it doesn't work in limesurvey as it is. Note that it works with a gmail account, so it's not a firewall problem.

At first, I thought it was an issue with the "\". But doubling it or putting "\" instead didn't change anything.
I looked up in the database, and noticed all DB fields matched html fields... except the smtpuser. Only the smtppassword is saved.

Does that mean limesurvey uses the main user mail as user authentification?

Well, if that's the case, that's bad. What's the point of offering a html field for a data which is ignored in the db?

Thanks in advance.

I have no problems here saving 'domain\username' as SMPT username. What do you see the database that's not supposed to be matching?

I see all the database fields corresponding to the html fields, except the one corresponding to the smtp username.
And since it's the only difference between a working gmail account and a failing private-mailserver account, I deduce LimeSurvey uses my mail address as smtp username. Which works with public mailservers, but not in my case...

Can you please be a bit more detailed. Where are you seeing this exactly, what table etc.? Most helpful would be a screenshot of what you are seeing.

There's only one table in LS database where global settings are saved (as far as I can find): lime_settings_global. Don't you know your own database?

Well, here's is a commented screenshot, so you may see what I see.

www.hostingpics.net/viewer.php?id=370244LSsmtpusername.jpg

And excuse me if I'm blind, because I see no field corresponding my smtpuser value...

EDIT:
Ok, I'm blind. There's a second page at the bottom of phpmyadmin.
So yes, there's a emailsmtpuser there. And the "\" is correctly saved.

So my issue is elsewhere...
I'll be back when I've figured where my setup is wrong.
