I just performed a manual update to the newest version 2.53+161004. Now when I open my limesurvey installation I receive the following error message:

CAssetManager.basePath "/var/www/limesurvey/tmp/assets" is invalid. Please make sure the directory exists and is writable by the Web server process.

The expected behavior is that limesurvey would display the admin pages to update the database.

I checked the downloaded archive and it does not have a /tmp/assets directory. My old installation did have that directory, but the upgrading instruction did not mention that this directory should be saved when upgrading.

How can I make my installation work again? And where did the upgrade go wrong, is it a faulty archive, instruction, or did I do something wrong?

Hi, lxpert

I just ran into the same issue.
It's easy to correct, if you have access to your LS server.
Just create the folder "assets" in the "tmp" directory.
If not, add the folder in the downloaded LS zip file.

As the name (tmp) indicates, this directory must not be saved while updating.

And create a bug report.

So now it's OK to delete all the things in the "tmp" folder including the "assets" folder in LimeSurvey 4?

LS Version 4.2+

No, it is not. Just delete the contents of the subfolders, only.
