Dear Mazi
"So if I get it right the goal is to NOT delete the related data set but instead direct them to another survey to ask why they left and that way you can later analyze those drop outs by checking results and by checking the related text feedback?"
YEs that's it !

"Did you think about connecting both surveys by e.g. passing the data set ID of the main survey into the feedback survey so you can compare their comments with the page they left at the main survey?"
No for the moment I'm not linking the respondent answers in survey 1 to his/her "drop-out" reason (survey 2). It would be nice, indeed ! How can I link both surveys? I'm looking to a way to save the ID of survey 2 in survey 1...
Thank you !!!

At survey #2 create an equation question with question code "oldid" and set it to hidden. When entering the URL at survey #1 to call survey #2 add this at the end of the URL:
.../oldid/{SAVEDID}

Limesurvey should add the current data set ID to the URL and pass it into the hidden question with code "oldid".

Mazi, thank you !!
I followed your advises.
For the moment, I can not see the ID of survey #2 (drop out page) in the results data set of survey#1.
In the results data base of survey 2 it is written "oldID" and that's it.

Actually, my aim is to have the ID of survey# 2 reported in the results base of survey#1 (to make the link).

Thank you !!

Where did

That's not possible because you redirect users from survey 1 to survey 2 and can only pass data that way.
You requirement means that you have to do some custom coding to achieve this.

As for the buggy data passing: Please post the full URL you set up and a screenshot of the results table of survey #2.

Ok. thank you !
My aim is only to be able to link both surveys, to be able to say "respondent ID x has visited the survey #2. Actually this survey #2 is only a page with extra info proposed with an URL in the intro of survey#1. I would like to know who has visited this page (survey#2) before starting the survey#1.

Should I add an URL parameter to survey#1 ?

On survey#1, in the introduction, I put "please click on that link for extra info" and the URL is "iseaetudes.limequery.com/index.php/842381/lang-fr/oldid/{SAVEDID}"

And please find attached a screenshot of results of survey#2 (with some tests)
The URL that is written in "[refurl]" is different when I pass the mouse on...

Thank you !!

The setup of the "oldid" question at survey #2 is wrong. It has to use question code "oldid" and should use no question text. It should then be populated by URL.

Mazi,
what do you mean by "populated", you mean add an URL parameter (option "general settings" in the admin) for survey #1 or #2 ? for the moment the only place where I add "oldid/{saveid}" is in the URL of the hyperlink in the introduction of survey#1 (to call the 2nd survey).
Thank you !!!

"oldid/{SAVEDID}" (upper case!) is sufficient. It should then pass and store the ID at survey #2.

I did what you advised
- oldid/{SAVEDID} in the URL of survey#1
- oldid as a code question in survey#2 (equation, hidden)
- no text in that question
then in the results, the field "oldid" of survey#2 is empty
What did I do wrong?
Thank you!!

The behavior may depend on the Limesurvey version you are running.

Please test another approach by changing the question type from equation to short text.

Mazi
I'm using 2.50+ 160418
I tried by changing the type from "equation" to "text only". Still empty for the variable "oldid"..
My I send you my projects ?

Try uploading the surveys at Demo.limesurvey.org and post the link here.

I've been on this link, I can not find the way to upload something, there is nothing but a proposition of survey. ("my test survey").
So here is both projects. One is a limited version of the main project (survey#1), with only 2 pages. You will find the URL to the survey#2 in the middle of the "welcome page" (text : "Une page d'information en cliquant ici").
Survey#2 is only 1 question group, with 1 question

Is that ok for you to have a look ?
thank you!

1. The data set ID (SAVEDID) is not available at the welcome screen yet. Thus you have to place the link to survey #2 at the first question page.

2. At survey #2 use question type "short text" and not "text display" for question with code oldid.
