Gender attribute in token table

Currently only the firstname and surname attributes are available when we format personalized emails. In order to use formal Dutch / German we need to know weather to address the person with Mr. or Mrs. It would be great if a gender is stored in the token table.

Are you aware of the user defined attribute fields?

docs.limesurvey.org/Tokens&structure=Eng...ned_attribute_fields

You can add a gender field on your own.

What version of Limesurvey are you using. Perhaps it is worth an update if this feature is missing.

Thx, yes I am aware of that. It only works if the respondents of the survey are predefined. The way we use it mostly the link is send to a number of people who then provide their name / e-mail. Have not found a way to use the attributes in that setting, or is there?

I am using 1.91.

Well, if the respondents are not predefined, how will you know their gender? *confused*

Personalized emails will only work if you have at least some information about the participants.

When someone registers for a survey, the mail that is send with the link to access the survey can be personalized, the firstname and lastname parameters are stored and can be used. The same for confirmation mails after the survey is filled out. So it would be great if at time of registration for a (public) survey, not only the firstname, lastname and e-mail is asked but also the gender.
Given of course that in the e-mail templates we can use these variables and put in a condition.

Ahhh, now I understand it better. This makes sense.

However, at the moment, as far as I know, there is no possibility (except for going into the source code and hacking Limesurvey) to add more fields to the registration form.

However, one of the Google Summer of Code students is working on a central respondent database and among his tasks is also to improve the registration process, so that we can have more fields.
