Hi,

I have hosted a Demo of the file upload question type on my hp. Please check out the link and try creating surveys with File Upload Question Type. You can run the survey you have created and then view the responses via browse screen/ or add new entry via the data entry screen. You can also download individual files/all files corresponding to a single response/ all files corresponding to multiple responses in a zipped format, off the browse screen.

The link of the Demo is:

Hi,

This week we have added support for generating admin statistics for the File Upload Question Type. And with this, I'm glad to inform you all that we've taken care of all the admin screens for the File Uplaod Question Type.

There are several minor GUI and 'ease of use' modifications that we'll be doing to the File Upload Question Type on the basis of the feedback from the community. Since all the major functionality as well as peripherals such as statistics/browse etc have been implemented, I'd like to invite everyone to checkout the latest codebase off the limesurvey-dev branch and pour in their valuable suggestions.

Please note that the wiki corresponding to the File Upload Question Type is at :http://docs.limesurvey.org/tiki-index.php?page=File+Upload+Question+Type
You may checkout the limesurvey-dev branch off the following link: limesurvey.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/l...ource/limesurvey_dev

Looking forward to your valuable feedback,
Amit

Hi folks,

I have taken a couple screenshots of File Upload Question Type, to give an overview of what it looks like. You can take a look at the same here .

We should have the beta release out in a couple weeks.

:cheer: Hi guys, this type of question sounds so fantastic. You are doing such a great job with LimeSurvey!!!

Right now, I have a project, where I would need this function really much.

Is it possible to get a beta version of limesurvey 1.9.1 or do you know more about the release date of the final 1.9.1 now?

Bye Kulle

kullemenia,

File Upload Question Type is undergoing some final touches on the basis of user feedback. Beta should be out by 12th this month. Till then, you may try pulling the limesurvey_dev branch off the svn to try the file upload question type.

Hi Texens,

where can I find the beta file? Has it been released, yet? I have been to stupid to use the limesurvey_dev branch off the svn. Don't really know what to do there...

Regards
Kulle

We are currently working on merging files and get a first version of 1.91 ready for an RC1 release.

If you want to test the new feature, check the link above which texens posted.

Perhaps an interesting article about implementing a encryption routine into the uploader.

www.codediesel.com/php/encrypting-uploaded-files-in-php/

If Amit is not feedup of the uploading topic he might find some value in the Zend_File_Transfer Class.

What is the final impression of the project? Feedback and help from the limesurvey users was to low? ok? What is your advise for us?E.g. A Demo installation of the dev branch to allow quicker testing under system control of the limesurvey team?

I hope Amit updates his test system regularly so users don't have to set up an SVN DEV version for testing but can simply use:

texens.5gigs.net/limesurvey_dev/admin/admin.php

username: admin
password: pass

Amit, can you have a look at the link jelo posted and share your opinion?

Hey guys,

There were no hits on the Demo system and updating it every time there was a svn commit was a pain, hence I removed it. Anyways, I'll upload a Demo version on my hp and share the link so that those interested can test it.

Regarding the File upload module, we're using a AJAX File Uploader module which is pretty cool and does a lot of things simultaneously such as passing file's metadata etc. And given our design, we have closely coupled it with our codebase. We can definitely use the Zend class for adding an encryption layer, but that will have to wait for a while.
In the process to move everything from POSTs and GETs to sessions for security reasons, a couple things broke in the uploader and am devoting all my available time (which is a little rare due to the full time job I have) to fix it.

Anyways, I'll make sure to get a Demo version up and running to get some feedback from those following the uploader :)

Thanks for your feedback, Amit.

Having a Demo where users can test the latest file upload version is really useful, so please set it up and add the login details here.

It would also be nice to create a ticket at our Bugtracker about the Zend class integration so we don't forget about it.

Amit, thanks for response. My idea was to find out, if a dev Demo running on limesurvey.org would bring more feedback to features, which are in development. Since you received no hits on your Demo it can mean that the link and the promotion by us was not good enough. Or that not many people are willing to invest time in testing and debugging.

The Zend class was only FYI. No must, no way to go. Stick to your plan, no need to invest time in refactoring the code to use Zend at all. The core devs might can offer some insight, what policy the lime survey project is trying to stick to when it comes to external code like Zend Framework.

A way to encrypt files (like in the linked example) might be a useful feature request for the future. But no need to do it now. You have already invested a lot of time.

I think it would be useful to offer a test system based on the latest SVN version. As far as I know the Demo is automatically updated from SVN, having something like devdemo.limesurvey.org shouldn't be hard to set up.

What do you think?
