Hi LimeSurvey lovers,

After working on the Advanced File Uploader last week, I've been working on the admin panel screens this week. Thanks a lot for all the feedback on the Advanced File Uploader on the support forum.

This week I have added support for the following screens on the admin panel:
  • Response Browsing
  • Response Editing
  • Data Entry

I have also implemented the Zipper and Downloader. Using this feature, the admin can select files on the browse screen and download them to his local computer.

The following commits give a quick view of the work completed this week:
  • r8825: GSoC-FUQT Response Browsing: Added facility to browse responses for file upload question type.
  • r8829: GSoC-FUQT Added support to edit and update file metadata via browse/data entry screen.
  • r8831: GSoC-FUQT Added support for uploading files and inserting associated metadata using the data entry screen.
  • r8833: GSoC-FUQTAdded support for downloading uploaded files in zipped format from the browse screen

On the basis of the feedback on the support forum, mailing list and discussion with my mentor Carsten, we have decided to make some modifications in the Advance uploader to enhance its usability and make the uploading experience much easier for the surveyee. The uploader now, will have 3 phases viz:
  1. PRE-UPLOAD: use ajax so that the file upload automatically *starts* once the file has been selected
  2. DURING-UPLOAD: as the file is *being* uploaded, the "Loading" animation plays
  3. POST-UPLOAD: once the file *has been* uploaded, the upload button for that file is replaced by the preview and title/comments field

Since the preview of the uploaded file will come up on the same tab as soon as the file has been uploaded, we can remove the gallery tab. So we can do away with the confusions associated with switching in between the *gallery* and *upload from computer* tabs.

This week, apart from implementing the modifications in the file uploader, I'll also be adding support in the statistics module for fuqt and editing some of the templates shipped with LS1 to align File uploader's styling with that of template's.

texens replied the topic: Filters for FUQT on the statistics page
I'm working on the statistics page for the File Upload Question Type.
We have decided to add the following filter to the FUQT.
  • Number of files uploaded in response to the question. Range [0, maxfiles] where maxfiles = maximum number of files that can be uploaded for that question.
  • File Type: i.e. file extension. for eg, pdf, doc, txt etc
I would like to invite suggestions from the community as to what other filters we could possibly use for the file upload questions. Please pour in your ideas regarding filters so that we can incorporate them in our implementation.
In order to take a better look at statistics, please navigate to browse screen on the panel and use the statistics option.
Also, you can read more about the features provided by statistics on this page

wildfireone,

Thanks for reporting this warning message. This will be fixed in next commit.

In the last couple of days a lot of peripherals have been added to the file upload question type - such as checking valid extension types, depending on the administrator's settings, maximum number of files that can be uploaded, handy notifications on the activities etc.

I'd really appreciate if you could test these functionalities and drop some feedback on the user-interface, notification messages and overall ease of understanding etc.

Thanks,

texens replied the topic: Demo: File Upload Question Type
Hi,

I have hosted a Demo of the file upload question type on my hp. Please check out the link and try creating surveys with File Upload Question Type. You can run the survey you have created and then view the responses via browse screen/ or add new entry via the data entry screen. You can also download individual files/all files corresponding to a single response/ all files corresponding to multiple responses in a zipped format, off the browse screen.

The link of the Demo is:

Hi,

This week we have added support for generating admin statistics for the File Upload Question Type. And with this, I'm glad to inform you all that we've taken care of all the admin screens for the File Uplaod Question Type.

There are several minor GUI and 'ease of use' modifications that we'll be doing to the File Upload Question Type on the basis of the feedback from the community. Since all the major functionality as well as peripherals such as statistics/browse etc have been implemented, I'd like to invite everyone to checkout the latest codebase off the limesurvey-dev branch and pour in their valuable suggestions.

Please note that the wiki corresponding to the File Upload Question Type is at :http://docs.limesurvey.org/tiki-index.php?page=File+Upload+Question+Type
You may checkout the limesurvey-dev branch off the following link: limesurvey.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/l...ource/limesurvey_dev

Looking forward to your valuable feedback,
Amit

:cheer: Hi guys, this type of question sounds so fantastic. You are doing such a great job with LimeSurvey!!!

Right now, I have a project, where I would need this function really much.

Is it possible to get a beta version of limesurvey 1.9.1 or do you know more about the release date of the final 1.9.1 now?

Bye Kulle

kullemenia,

File Upload Question Type is undergoing some final touches on the basis of user feedback. Beta should be out by 12th this month. Till then, you may try pulling the limesurvey_dev branch off the svn to try the file upload question type.

Perhaps an interesting article about implementing a encryption routine into the uploader.

www.codediesel.com/php/encrypting-uploaded-files-in-php/

If Amit is not feedup of the uploading topic he might find some value in the Zend_File_Transfer Class.

What is the final impression of the project? Feedback and help from the limesurvey users was to low? ok? What is your advise for us?E.g. A Demo installation of the dev branch to allow quicker testing under system control of the limesurvey team?
