haleynpeters created the topic: Refer URL
I want the data for who completes my survey through a referred link kept separate from the data on who completed it from a different link. I changed the settings to save this data, but when I view my responses under "RefURL" there's nothing. I know people have completed the survey through the referred URL, so that data is wrong. How can I fix this? Thanks!

The referrer URL is not always passed on to server. So ideally the different links contain an ID that you pass on to your survey, via the panel integration feature, for example.

I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH member. I answer at the LimeSurvey forum in my spare time. No support via private message.

Holch is 100% correct. You cannot control the passing of the referrer URL.

E.g. the referrer isn't transferred when:
1.) switching from a https to a http connection via the URL.
2.) a security software (e.g. desktop firewall) is suppressing it.
3.) the browser itself suppressing it.
4.) the URL is using the HTML5 attribute/value rel="noreferrer"

You never can rely on the referrer.
Best way is to use completely different surveys or to use GET parameter AKA panel integration (which holch already recommended)
