Browser Performance and Stability

We are seeing multiple users having performance issues when using Internet Explorer 11, specifically when attempting to export to Excel/CSV. There seems to be less of a problem with Chrome, but our company strictly uses IE.

Is there a preferred web browser for using LimeSurvey?
Is IE known to perform less effectively than other browsers?
Will LimeSurvey continue to support IE even after MS Edge becomes more relevant?

Thanks very much for any feedback!

As for the export performance problems: Can you reproduce this at our Demo?

If so, please file a bug report at the Bugtracker.

Thanks!

Hi Mazi,

Unfortunately, the export error only occurs when a large amount of data is being exported. Chrome seems to handle the task better, and IE seems to timeout, hang, and get the below proxy error.

"The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server
The proxy server could not handle the request POST /feedback/index.php.
Reason: Error reading from remote server"

This made me curious if there were known IE issues as far as stability.

Thanks again!

I am not aware of any export issues. It will also be pretty hard to debug/fix this at Limesurvey due to the proxy.

Can you test it without a proxy? I don't believe that it is causing the problem but I would like to know I you will receive a blank page or an empty file instead of a timeout error message when trying without a proxy. I could reproduce such problems when you generate amounts of responses which are in the range of 1000-10000. I couldn't pinpoint these problems to a certain browser issue.
