Is there a possibility to get the value of a answertextfield out?

Is there any possibility to get the value out of an answertextfield, to use it in a javascript variable? Something like getElementById(). I would use this method to give an output to the participants what links in the questiontext they had clicked on for further information. So I have to put the new created javascript variable back in the textfield. I hope someone can help me with this part.

Thank you very much

The answer are in the same page or in another page ?

With the 1st question code to QCODE:
If it's another page, use default answer and set {QCODE.shown} at this one.
In the same page use:
$("#question{QCODE.qid} input.text").val() to have the value of the input.
