What does it mean for a survey to be "not anonymous"?

What precisely does it mean for a survey to be "not anonymous"? / anonymized responses = NO or YES?

If "anonymized responses = YES", what specific behavior does this cause?
If "anonymized responses = NO" (the default), what behavior does this prevent? Can someone please post an example?

I'm about to publish my first survey in a "no tokens" manner so that anyone can take my survey without any prior authorization or authentication. Mostly, I want to keep the survey replies themselves private. And since I'm not using tokens, I have no formal users.

Thanks.

IF you ain't using tokens anyway, this setting has no meaning.

Hello,

With not anonymous survey you can log the refurl and IP adress, with anonymous survey you can't.

And to change the default, you have to modify the core of LimeSurvey.
