Hello,

At the moment i'am busy with graduating, to collect data for my research i make use of a survey (limesurvey version 1.90+).

After activating the survey some people (not everyone) said that the following code -<!--[if gte mso 9]--><!--[if gte mso 9]--> appeared in some questions (the type of the questions are multipe options).

Can somebody tell me what the reason is of this code? and how to prevent this?

Thnx!

Tim

check the source code view of your questions - there you will find the trash code in your questions

delte the trash code and just write your question in the source code

phpsurvey is right. This code comes from copy&paste from MS Word.

Here is what I found about the mso 9 thingy:
mso 9 is Office 2000.
You are looking at a conditional comment that says
"if using Internet Explorer and Office 2000 or later is installed then
execute the following code until [endif]" Otherwise skip the code.
The code may or may not be seen in other browsers depending on exactly
how the conditional comments are written.

So don't copy directly from MS Office into Limesurvey (or any other web application), especially not with IE. In the WYSIWYG-Editor in Limesurvey there is also a function "Paste from MS Word" in the extended version. That might also help. But the best thing is, as phpsurvey said already, to switch off the WYSIWYG-Editor, because then you see all the "trash".

;-)
Have a look at the manual! It is a really valuable source for information. Here some helpful links:

phpsurvey and holch are correct.

I have found it useful to copy anything that may be in a Word (or other software package) into Notepad first, then into LimeSurvey. This strips out all of the extraneous code. The only thing I have to do then is to reapply any formatting (such as bold, etc.)

Well, if you don't copy from MS Word, I really don't know how XML code from MS Word comes into your question text. Do other people work on the survey as well?

as far as i know i'am the only one who works on the survey.

A new version of the survey is online, and people are alreay testing the survey. so in case the code appears they will notice me.
