survey to randomize questions in two groups of participants was created by NeuroEconSolutions
Hello!
I have one set of demographic questions to be displayed to all participants. Right after there are two sets of questions (actually clinical cases)
I would like participants to be directed to either set 1 or 2 of the clinical cases
In the end I need to have 50% participants that have responded set 1 and the other 50% pf participants set 2.
Could I do that? If so, could you please direct me how?
TIA
Maria

Volunteers are not paid.
Not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless

As usual,
create a random number in a question of type "Equation" (e.g. randnum).
Set the relevance equation of your groups to
either "randnum==1"
or "randnum==2"

Thank you!
However, this way isn't me the one setting up what questions are shown?

so you mean I create a separate question, type "equation" before each set of my clinical cases?

No, only once at the beginning of your survey.
Then you have one variable that contains this random value.
And be relevance equation you display one of the two groups.

I am sorry I have to ask, would you mind showing me with an example how to do it?
I have texted Lime online help as well...I guess my question is very basic, I am new to this, I have been using Qaltrics until now....

There are literally thousands of examples in this forum.
You have 2 "paths" to go (set 1 and set 2). I assume you have setup both sets already in your survey.
The only thing you need to do, like Joffm described is to put a equation question at the beginning of your survey with a random number that is either 1 or 2. So it is the random number process that determines into which set you guide your participants. For all those where the random number comes out as 1 it goes into the set 1 and for all where the random number appears as 2 you guide them into set 2.
Here for example is an description of how to create a random number in an equation question (the rest of the problem is a little different):
survey-consulting.com/how-to-randomly-sh...a-limesurvey-survey/
Here is a description of what you are looking for, but you should not use their approach of how to create the random number, as it is flawed (the way they use it, the random number could be triggered more than once):

But if you search in the forum for random number, you'll find a lot of examples as well.
