Carousel - Stack Questiontype (instead of array) was created by SurveyDennis
As alternative for Grid/Matrix questions I am using Carousel/Stacks.
I have created a workaround to get this also in Limesurvey.
But not sure if this is the ideal solution. Anyone interested to see if we can get this in a proper way into Limesurvey?
Attached the lss.

Nice concept Denis. We have done something similar with multiple list-radio questions.
One addition you may consider is buttons/controls so you can navigate between the questions in case of a mistaken answer.

Interesting. For which version of LimeSurvey is that working? Hopefully the work isn't lost, when LS 3.X gets traction.
From a respondent point of view I currently miss a way to check my answers. When the list gets longer I won't feel motivated to just restart instead of review the questions.

Thanks Tony, thanks Jelo.
Ideally I would like to manage something as the screenshot attached.
More stacks then a carousel.
In that case you could better see how many items are still left.
To make it a better control from the respondent's point of view it would be nice to have the responses below the answer options. With still the option to drag and drop them to change the choice.

@SurveyDennis, Yup, go for it, that's even better.
@jelo, This will probably work as-is in 3.x but it would be cool to role it into a custom question template (unfortunately, I cannot find any documentation on that yet).

Hi, all,
just to add something.
No doubt, this "carousel" is a nice appealing feature. And it is included as standard in the software one of my clients uses.
But to be honest I nearly never used it.
It bothers me that the respondent can click through without having to move the mouse. (if there is an autoproceed to the next question as in the provided demo).
So in my opinion the drag and drop seems to be better.
Best regards
Joffm

That's correct, but I see more and more mobile users. Displaysize and Mouse vs. Fingers as Input Device become an issue. I wonder how to conduct things like choiceconjoint in the future ( www.sawtoothsoftware.com/about-us/news-a...ighthouse-studio-9-4 )Joffm wrote: It bothers me that the respondent can click through without having to move the mouse.

Thanks for your feedback Joffm!
Always good to share and hear about experiences.
The main two reasons for me having something like carousel/stacks is;
1. Grid questions don't fit on small screens.
And I really want a device agnostic approach, meaning exactly the same look and feel on mobile and PC.
Although the default option in Limesurvey is very nice to render the array in separate single response questions.
I don't want a change in behavior depended on different devices.
2. Grid questions are in fact separate questions but we put them into one big matrix, for me an old punch card effect
I want to be sure people are focussed on the actual statement/question. They need time to read it, think about it and then answer to it.
You are right about that people just can click through the answers.
But that's the same for a grid question.
Nevertherless in both cases you can recognize the speedsters, pattern clickers and straightliners easily.
Maybe it's even good that we spot these people in our data.
How would they have filled in the rest of the survey?
Now we can remove them from our full dataset.
Maybe the best alternative for the grid question is just the normal single response in one big loop

Thanks for sharing the conjoint CBC example jelo!
I am working on a swipe solution, a sort of a tinder question look a like.
I didn't took the time to add this into a Limesurvey workaround yet.
But I believe this could work for conjoint as well.
