It may be a caching issue. Completely clear you cache before testing.

I cleared the cache and putted the alert in custom.js and I see the alert.
But the error custom message script is still not working

The workaround works for me. Unfortunately, I cannot debug your problem without seeing a test survey.

Is there a way to delay how quickly the code snippet redirects? I'm js dumb. Changing the numbers didn't work:-)

Yes, you could put the redirect in a timeout. I'm not in able to give a code snippet now (from my phone) but try searching the forum for "SetTimeout for inspiration.
