Matrix with fixed text columns was created by oberdan
I need to create a survey for people to evaluate some titles of serials. It should be a matrix where some columns will contain fixed text (ISSN, Title, Publisher, etc...) and others with long/huge free text fields for the evaluations/grades. And sometimes the columns containing ffixed text and the ones with the text fields need to be intercalated. Is this possible?

Can you upload a mockup? I didn't really get what you want to do.

Sorry about the delay, I had to stop the project for some time. What I need is something like the spreadsheet here:

portal.biblioteca.unesp.br/portal/arquivos/sample.xls

Where the columns "COLLECTION", "MISSING ISSUES" and "LIBRARY" must be filled for each title.

Thanks in advance,

So you have a database with the columns that are already filled in. Then for each book you need them to fill in the missing fields?

Is this book by book? This would be easy I think.

Now if various books should be filled in in the same survey, I think this would be a little more difficult.

Yes, this is exactly the problem I have here. The number of titles can vary from 20 to around 300. Do you think it can be done using limesurvey?

Various titles within one questionnaire will be dificult. I don't see how this could be done (someone?).

If you can do it title by title (one questionnaire for each title) you can upload a token table with the information that is already available and even insert it in the questionnaire.

However, this is quite a simple data entry task. Why don't you do it directly in Excel?

We used to send excel spreadsheets for people to enter the data. The problem is that we need to know exactly who is in fact entering the values. I thought we could use LimeSurvey and simulate an online spreadsheet and use the e-mail address to identify people.

I don't think you can create a online spreadsheet with Limesurvey and piping the data in. Not impossible, but probably more work than it is worth.

Ok, I understand... But people here are asking: how many titles you think can be inserted in one survey without making it too complicated to format and manage?

As Holch says, this may be more work than it is worth, but you could:

1) Create an array-text question with the maximum possible rows
2) Use JavaScript to make columns A, B, C, F "readonly"
3) Make an AJAX call to a remote script that queries your "books" database and populates columns A, B, C, F
4) Let the respondent fill in columns D, E, G
2) Use JavaScript to hide any rows without books

Cheers,
