"Do not know" button on numerical input screens

4 years 2 months ago #90158 by jessicar64
I am using Version 1.92+ Build 120822

Is there any way to make a numerical input question mandatory but allow for a "do not know" check box?

E.g., I'd like to be able to ask something like:
How many squirrels are in your back yard right now?
[] do not know

I'd also like to be able to ask:
What percent of the birds that visit your feeder are each of the following types?
______ % cardinals
______ % blue birds
______ % robins
100 (total must equal 100)
[] do not know

My survey is not actually about backyard wildlife, but you get the idea. I want to make sure the question is read and answered, not skipped, so I want to make it mandatory.

Thank you for any tips you can provide!

This is a feature request. Limesurvey is lacking features of the big common market research tools.

A workaround might be to validation rules and force to enter something for "Do not know". E.g enter "-100" if you do not know.

Add a checkbox question type with only one sub question "Do not know" and enter a condition on this sub question.

Not so difficult , and can be adapted.
