Believe me, I checked the forums for a similar question to this but found nothing - so either it can't be done, I'm searching for the wrong thing or it's totally new !

What I'm trying to do is this (I'm a first time Lime Survey user - but I am a database developer)..

I want to replicate the concepts of a master-detail module in a questionnaire.. e.g.

How many devices do you own ? [ ]
  • If the user enters 3 then I want to display three repeating groups of questions, (device type, serial num, vendor etc)

  • If the user enters 10 then I want to display ten repeating groups of questions

  • If the user enters 0 then I want to skip that group

Hope that makes sense..

Is that possible or shall I just stick with building a custom webapp ?

Well, there is no looping in LimeSurvey so you will need to create the maximum possible number of groups before activation.

Groups can then be hidden/shown with conditions or relevance depending on the answer to "How many devices do you own ?".

Does it still work this way?
Should I create the maximum possible number of groups and show/hide it based on previous responses?
