TOPIC: Category of Users taking survey

Category of Users taking survey 3 years 11 months ago #86641

Is it possible to assign categories to users(grouping of users) taking a survey? After survey is completed the results will be categorized by user categories.

How you choose category ?

If you use token/not anonymous survey : just put the category in attribute
If not : use a Equation question type

Denis,
Thank you for responding so quickly.
The categories would be pre-assigned to the users.

Example:
A survey for Hospital Staff would have four groups.
Administrators, Doctors, Nurses and Technicians.

Their results should be anonymous and the results will be shown in groups charts.

How would I set that up?

You have to ask the user group at start (if not : survey can not be anontmous).

A List radio seems OK for me.

After use relevance equation for specific question, and in statistics, you can filter by the group question.

Ask the group?
Create a question with:
QCODE: STAFF
QTEXT: What is your Staff
type: List radio
Answers:
ADM : Administrators
DOC : Doctors
NUR : Nurses
TEC : Technicians

And after if you have some group of question only for Nurse (for example), use group "releavance equation" to:
(STAFF.code=="NUR").

You can use condition to each question to.

Thank you once again! Interesting... I see what you are saying... I was going to have the same set of questions for all groups. I would rather not have them select the group> I would rather have them assigned to a group before taking the survey to ensure no incorrect selections take place for groupings. Possible? I was thinking I could accomplish this with tokens / attributes combination. I would like to accumulate results by group for a report.

You can't use token/attribute in a anonymous survey.

The you HAVE to ask the user.

If you can use attribute : you can put atribute in answer.
This attribute can be an id for this user (name/surname, social security number ..)

Then the survey is NOT anonymous.

Bump.... Just curious why using attributes in an anonymous survey can not work. Seems to me assigned attributes for grouping or locations / departments would not reveal the survey taker easily

Like i already say : if you put specific information in token attribute, like Name-Surname, then you can add an hidden equation question type with {TOKEN:ATTRIBUTE_1} and have Name-surname in the survey.

I guess I am not being very clear here... I just want to assign two attributes Location and Evaluator Type... No name or specific identifying attribute. I then would like the survey takers to take the survey using their tokens then in the results be able to group Results by one or both of the attributes.

You are very clear : You want to use attribute in a anonymous survey.

I answer : it's not possible with an anonymous survey
You ask !: why it's not possible ?
I answer: Because you can use Name/Surname in your attribute
You answer : but, me , i don't use Name/Surname.

And my final answre is :
- LimeSurvey core can't allow you to use Token attribute in your anonymous survey , because you CAN put some personnal information in token atribute. If you want to use toen attribute in your survey : set it to not anonymous.
