Translating "Other" prompt (List Questions)

More

I have a survey that is not in English as its base language. There is a radio question that I have set to "Allow Other", and in the prompt box I put in the base language prompt.

How do I set it so that I can have my custom "Other" prompt translated? There's no spot for it, and the .po file assumes English as the core language, so I can't simply add it there.

Alternatively, should I be using an English-language "Other" phrase for that question, and THEN translate it to the base language in the .po file? Counter-intuitive, but it makes sense if you treat the "Other Prompt" as a system prompt.

If the survey uses only one language have a look at the advanced question setting "other replace text".

Multilingual question attributes will be available at Limesurvey 2.0.

If you are using 1.91 version (doesn't work with 1.90)

Paste in the field to change the label for "other" (/!\ adapt)
<span class="en">New label</span><span class="fr">Nouveau label</span>
and add to your CSS:
html:lang(en) .fr{display:none}
html:lang(fr) .en{display:none}

Works for me!

Thanks Mazi!

As for replacing "other", this method works and can be useful to set the ''Answer prefix'' & "Answer suffix" (and probably in more cases) when present in the display settings of some question types, like numerical input...

Obviously the lang or class attributes have to be the same than written into the <html> tag:
<html xmlns=" www.w3.org/1999/xhtml " xml:lang="en" lang="en">
