Browsing responses

Is there a way to filter out some fields from the "display responses table"
I only need a few fields to quickly see the most important questions.
For example i would need to get rid of the "completed Y/N" field and the "start language" field since they are only taking up space from the table leaving less room for actual answers and are no way needed when looking through the answers. Also i would need the "Submitted date" field to show up when browsing responses. I know it can be seen from "View response details" but would be important to see submit date quickly while browsing through the answers.

Is there any easy way of choosing which fields(questions) are shown in the "Display responses" table. Any help would be appriciated.

Hello,

I don't think there is an option for customizing the "display responses" table view. If you want to change the look and feel you might have to dig into the source code of LimeSurvey and change it there or submit an idea at ideas.limesurvey.org/ is no similar idea exists.

I'm no CSS guru but it might be possible to hide the first X columns of the browse repsonse overview by adding some CSS to the adminstyle.css file.

I don't think you can do it just using only CSS but you could add a function to admin_core.js to hide certain columns. You could use the value of the "sid" hidden input to hide the coulmns for specific surveys.

Add the following to the end of admin_core.js.

Replace "SS" with your survey ID and add or remove columns as nessessary.

This example will hide columns 3 and 5 which (in my survey) are "Completed" and "Start language".
$(document).ready(function(){

	// Survey ID
	var sID = SS;
	// Comma separated list of columns to be hidden
	var hiddenColumns = [3,5];

	if($('input[name="sid"]').attr('value') == sID) {

		// Add some column-specific classes
		$('.browsetable tr').each(function(i, el){
			$('> *', this).each(function(i, el){
				$(el).addClass('col-'+(i+1));
			});
		});

		// Loop through the hiddenColumns and hide them
		$(hiddenColumns).each(function(i){
			$('.col-'+this+'').hide();
		});
	}

});

Cheers,
Tony Partner

I just might :P

I was also wondering if i can use something similiar to show submit date.
It does show up in details but would be usefull to show up in the browse view also.

ps. that code worked exactly as needed:)

If your survey is NON-anonymous, you can set "Date stamp" = "Yes" in Survey properties --> general settings --> Notification & data management

Yeah that adds "Date started" and "Date last action" instead of those more usefull would be "Submission Date" which can be seen when vieving response details

I would even consider this a bug because there is no reason not to show that field at the browse response overview as well, so please open a ticket at the Bugtracker and...
  1. Give as much information as possible
  2. Attach your survey. You can mark your ticket "private" so that only the developers will be able to take a look at it.
  3. Provide step-by-step instructions how to reproduce the problem.
  4. If possible/helpful please provide screenshots

Afterwards please post the link to the Bugtracker so we can follow the progress.

Thanks!

P.S. Please open a new topic for different issues in the future.

To my knowledge that isn't possible because there are no CSS IDs or classes containing the survey ID.
But tpartner might prove me worng.
