Users with registration and users with token assigned

Hi!

I'm working to my first survey with LimeSurvey, and I have a question.

Some users will have to registrate before accessing the survey, while some other users have a known and predefined token (one different token for each user) to partecipate to the same survey.

So , I'm setting the value 'Yes'
to the parameter "Allow public registration?" of the survey
and it works correctly for users that must registrate.
A token is automatically assigned to each user, and
after receiving an email, the user can partecipate without knowing the token.

For users with a specific token assigned, how can I set the survey?

I thought to duplicate the survey (with an export/import of the survey); then I set the parameter "Allow public registration?" with value 'No' for the second survey.

So the surveys will be 2: one for partecipants with public registration and one for users with a token already assigned.

Is this correct?

Thank you...

You can handle this all in one single survey because if a user already has a token assigned receives an invitation and calls the link to the survey, the token is passed as parameter. Limesurvey will notice this and doesn't show the registration screen but let's the user with a valid token start the survey directly.

Thank you for the answer, I try to explain better :)

When I'm defining tokens for the survey
I don't know who will partecipate with these tokens,
because the assignement (person-token) is done by an external organization,
not by the admin of the survey.

I can only define tokens (with 'Add new token entry') without knowing name, surname and email, so I can't send an invitation.

Hope to be clear, thank you again...

Hmm, do you only hand the tokens to the organisation and they forward them to their users?

I still don't understand why you would need to splitt this up into two surveys.

Make two surveys is only an hypothesis, perhaps I don't know well how LimeSurvey works...and surely there is a better way to resolve! :)

In my opinion, for one group of users the public registration mode is correct (with token casually generated by LS).

But for users that will contact the external organization to have a login, I don't like the registration mode.
A user receive verbally a login from the organization (a personal token composed in a certain way, to distinguish it): so, this user is able to access the survey directly, without registering.

The organization doesn't know name, surname or email of the user.
The organization isn't the admin of the survey, but it can only distribute tokens to the users that do request to partecipate.

The admin of the survey will configure into LimeSurvey about 500-700 token and will give the list of the tokens available to the organization, before the survey starts.

What do you think about?
Thank you very very much...(my english is not so good!!! )

...this user is able to access the survey directly, without registering....

I mean:
this user is able to access the survey using his token, without registering or receiving an email.

Thanks!

Ah yes,

This need some code modification . Survey with "Allow public registration?" have to present a token form too after the inscription form.

Maybe you can have a look at feature request or bug tracker if there are already something like this.

if you don't need to merge results of the two surveys you are thinking of then you can also use two surveys.
Create a base version and when this is done and tested, created another copy of it.

I need to merge results of the two surveys
because for the project really exists only one survey, with these two tipologies of users.

You said: "...create a base version and when this is done and tested, create another copy of it. "

It is the better solution anyway?

Thanks for your support!

If the two survey are identical, you can later on merge results in one system (or at a third copy) by using VV export/import: docs.limesurvey.org/Exporting+results&st...Export_and_VVImport_
