Open-Ended Response With Formatting

Is it possible to have a "Huge free text" question (an essay with paragraphs written by the respondent) that allows the user to include formatting using the built in WYSIWYG editor? We would like that formatted HTML code to be written to the "Huge free text" column in the database so we can clearly see paragraph breaks, italics, and such. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry, but there is no question type supporting the use of an integrated editor. Furthermore some tags might be filtered on save for security reasons.

Do you know of any way of enabling just basic returns and paragraphs in huge free text so when we go to print and grade we can see where the respondent had intended for there to be a new paragraph?

Are returns filtered as well? I think those should be possible.

When I looked at the raw data in MSSQL where it writes, they look to be just spaces in the data set as opposed to paragraphs.

I'm not sure if MS SQL filters this line breaks as well. Have a look at Limesurvey's browse response screen.

LimeSurvey come with ckeditor,

Maybe you can use it with specific option.

In your template , you have to add link to ckeditor javascript file, and after you can use:

this script
$('#questionXXX textarea').ckeditor({path: 'http://yoursurveyurl/admin/scripts/ckeditor.36/'}); });

See : www.fyneworks.com/jquery/CKEditor/ for documentation.

And if it don't work like you want, you can use other ckeditor directory ( or other jquery plugin)

Mazi you were right on. When I looked at the raw data in MSSQL it looked as if it was only spaces, however when I actually got the data into a reporting application I could see that they were breaks. I can deal without having indentation and font controls so this topic is solved for me.

Thanks again!
