Global password

Hi,
new to limesurvey and enjoying it. Nice program !

I´ve read wiki and token, but I couldn´t find a way to have a global password shared among users. The problem is I have a company with employees, and I want only this people to answer my survey. I will post the password in their Intranet.

Is this possible ?

I found a possible answer in wiki :

"Use general password for accessing a survey
If you don't want to use tokens but a general password to access a survey you can set your survey to "allow public access". Don't create a token table but use the following workaround:

1. Create a short text question first
2. Create the other questions
3. Use conditions on all the other questions. You can use regular expressions to validate the string entered at the short text question. Just validate a certain password. If the password is correct the following questions are shown.
4. Create a boilerplate question which just says "invalid password" which is shown if the user entered a wrong password.
"

But I think this is more like a workaround because other people can enter in the survey and read my welcome message, for instance.

Thanks !!

How about placing your LS installation in a password protected directory?

It was a solution if I only wanted that company in particular to answer, but I need to place some anonymous surveys to public, so it´s no good.

A password protected directory also has a "user", and can frustrate people, which means...no answering.

Thanks

You can see the workaround section to have some idea.

You can use specific question, LimeSurvey php code hacking, and sure some other possibility ( maybe a javascript solution in startpage )

Ok, i can see this will only work with some workarounds or code change, not out of the box.

I think this would be a nice feature to be added to lime survey.

Add as first a short free text question.

Set it as mandatory and write the password in brackets -es. (12345)- in the validation field.

Don't show the welcome screen.

Please check the answers above, there are some solutions posted yet.

If that doesn't do the trick, the easiest solution would be to code your own script which is put before the survey (workflow-wise). That script can ask for a password and if everything is correct, it redirects the user to a predefined survey.

Hi,
have a look on the attached file...
It's the very simple (html+javascript) way I use to compose the final URL using the SURVEY ID as global password.
Obviously, your survey won't be listed on your LS installation homepage and 'll be protected against search engines spiders...

And now, with Uses left function on token you can have 10 000 000 access to a survey with the same token code.

Token is the global password.

And you can have 3/5/100 token like that ( for example to have answer by services etc ....).

LS is great !

And , as i have already posted, you can use token like a global password.

in token table : set Uses left to 100 000 000

I don't know why using conditions isn't an option but in this case use the scenario which shnoulle described.
