I've just started using Limesurvey, including the remote control API. In order to get a session key I need to pass a username and password in a JSON request. Other similar APIs, e.g. the Jenkins CI one, allow authorization using an API key that's generated within the tool; can Limesurvey do something like that?

No, at the moment the only auth I know about is through a username and password. However, is there any particular reason you don't want to use a username and password?

The obvious one is security. The password is sent unencrypted, certainly if I'm using http and not https. (I believe)
