Hello everyone,
I'm using limesurvey 1.90+ as that's the version my university has. Unfortunately, it's not possible to selectively randomize the order of groups in that version - or at least not without access to the root directory (?). I found the workaround mentioned in the manual ( bugs.limesurvey.org/view.php?id=557 ) which sounds perfect, but I can not use it...

Is there any other way to randomize selected question groups besides that?

I'm sorry if that's a stupid question, but I'm desperate and new to limesurvey...

I would appreciate your help.
Thanks in advance!
relfant

Seriously : ask to the university to update the LimeSurvey version : best is 2.06lts actually ....

In 1.90 : you can not without PHP hacking.

Thank you very much for your response! I will ask them to do that, but I have low hopes for that to happen anytime soon ..
It will be too late for my survey .. I think I will start several versions of the survey with different group orders to minimize the effect
thanks again, though

Do you HAVE to use the server of the university?

You could always think of installing Limesurvey yourself on a webserver. For a few bucks you can get a decent hosting and you can install a recent version. It will probably speed up your development and for a few EUROs/Dollars/Whatevers you can save you a lot of work and headache, because randomizing groups is so simple now, that you can do it probably in 5min.

installing Limesurvey also has become quite easy. Or you go with Limeservice, it isn't that expensive either. I wouldn't let my university hold me back from being efficient and up to date. ;-)

Thanks again, holch!
I will think about hosting a webserver next time - for this time there wasn't enough time left (at least not enough for a noob like me) as the survey had to start on a specific date.
BUT I actually did manage to get access to a 2.50+ version instead - everything was perfectly easy after that. :cheer:
