Hi everyone,

I'm a french student and i'm working on a project about a questionnary used for hospital patients. I would like to put it on Limesurvey. So i downloaded Xampp 3.2.1 to train myself and it was well installed, i guess, since it opens.

But after i open it, i directly have this message :

16:41:36 [main] Windows Version: Windows 7 Professional SP1 32-bit
16:41:36 [main] XAMPP Version: 5.6.8

After i open it and after there is this message, the button "Start" works only for Apache and MySQL, for the others it's grey and i can't click on it (Filezilla, mercury and tomcat).
And when i click on Start for Apache, i have the following message :

16:32:32 [Apache] Attempting to start Apache app...
16:32:32 [Apache] Status change detected: running
16:32:33 [Apache] Status change detected: stopped
16:32:33 [Apache] Error: Apache shutdown unexpectedly.
16:32:33 [Apache] This may be due to a blocked port, missing dependencies,
16:32:33 [Apache] improper privileges, a crash, or a shutdown by another method.
16:32:33 [Apache] Press the Logs button to view error logs and check
16:32:33 [Apache] the Windows Event Viewer for more clues
16:32:33 [Apache] If you need more help, copy and post this

For this last message, wich seems to happen a lot, i have seen a lot of web pages about it. The solutions that are proposed don't work (change the port in the httpd.conf file, check if the ports 80 is used etc...).

Somebody already had this problem ? I found a lot of pages for Apache crash but the solutions don't work for me. For the first message i transmetted to you, i have to say that there are much less solutions available and nothing seem to work either...

So if you could bring me some help so i could try to begin with limesurvey that would be so nice !

Thanks guys !

Hi, you may need to start MySQL and Apache "as Administrator" (that worked for me). So try running the separate .bat scripts by clicking your right mouse button and selecting "Run as administrator".
Hope this helps! Frank

That is what i tried but it didnt work either. But when i told my story to a guy that's part of the informatic team of our structure, he was not surprised that it didnt work. He didnt tell me exactly why. He wanted me to install wamp 2.5 then he could install me Limesurvey to work on a local server. So i dont know how he will do it but can ask him and maybe tell you what went wrong, if other people have the same problem later...

Thanks for your answer anyway ;)
