Can I put a custom theme in read-only mode? was created by ritapas
Hello, we're facing an issue with Ls 3.15
In our CE install, we've designed a custom default theme which, of course, can be modified by any of our users with appropriate rights. Until now we had no problem with that.
It happened today that one of our users has tried to extend a theme in Internet Explorer. Yes, we know that IE is not supported but people sometimes forget about such things.
Well, instead of opening a new extended theme or - better - throwing an error message, Limesurvey has opened the default theme and modified it a bit before noticing that there was a problem with that.
I've reproduced this behaviour, it opens the default theme regardless of which theme I try to extend.
I don't know if there will be a solution in the future, for instance to prevent at all the IE browser from opening the theme editor page would be good enough.
Anyway, a very good thing would be to have the ability put the default theme (and, maybe, other production ones) in read-only mode.
Is there a way to achieve that? I.E. by setting file permissions in the linux directory, or else?
Thank you.
Rita

I think the best solution is to have a "Permission settings" system for template like Survey.

Hello, yes, but this would be a big deal of a job to do!
Isn't there a quicker workaround?
For instance, a way to add our custom theme to the core themes instead of putting it in the upload zone? I've tried to do this hack manually but didn't work.
Or, do you think that it would work if i set this theme's directory as read-only for apache in our linux filesystem?

I tried this once in our limesurvey 3.15 and the theme settings page crashed but maybe there were other kinds of problems, then. I'll try again. Thank you a lot.

Hello, no, it doesn't work properly.
In the home page I get an error:
The "/var/www/limesurvey/upload/themes/survey/MyDefault/views/" directory does not exist ("/var/www/limesurvey/upload/themes/survey/MyDefault/views/").
I'll try with the permission trick and let you know.

1. SkelVanilla included in core (and set as default)
2. Some cool plugin already activated
3. Some script install using command to set up quickly
It's my own work for my own hosting
