Show only selected answers from previous question was created by yohay
Hi ,
I Couldnt find how I can show only selected answers from previous multiple choice question.
I have multiple choice questions which requires 3 answers. I want to use the selected answers in the placeholders within the text of the the next question.
Is there a way of doing that ?
Many thanks

Hi,
I should use an equation question to produce the text for your placeholder.
Like:
{join(if(M01_SQ001=="Y",M01_SQ001.shown,""),if(M01_SQ002=="Y",M01_SQ002.shown,""),if(M01_SQ003=="Y",M01_SQ003.shown,""),if(M01_SQ004=="Y",M01_SQ004.shown,""),if(M01_SQ005=="Y",M01_SQ005.shown,""),if(M01_SQ006=="Y",M01_SQ006.shown,""))}
Of course you can enter the subquestion text instead of the "M01_SQ00X.shown" directly.
And in your next question just insert the {[EquationQuestionCode]}
Example with following ranking
Best regards
Joffm

Placeholder Field Tutorial
We have created a tutorial video on this topic on our youtube channel.
Especially, pay attention to the sequence 04:30 until 05:45 to understand the placeholder-in-subsequent-question-text issue.

@Stuart:
Nice to have some tutorials on LS.
But since when do we have to use the "question by question" mode to be able to use placeholder fields? Shouldn't this be possible in "Group by Group" mode as well? Of course you can use them only on a following "page" (group), but they should work as well, right?!

Well, you're right to a certain extent, I guess that didn't become quite clear in the video. If you're using the placeholder field
button, you will have to set the mode to question by question as far as I'm concerned, otherwise it will refuse to allow the
selection of previous subquestions/answer options. Of course, if you type the placeholder in the editor manually, group by
group can be set beforehand. Also, question by question can be changed to group by group after using the placeholder field
button. That has been my previous experience with it.
That can be updated in the video though.

OK, just watched the video for a little longer and now understand what you are referring to. Have never used this placeholder field button, didn't even really know it existed.
I am wondering why this is still using the somewhat outdated INSERTANS solution, if it could just use EM code (question and subquestion codes), which are more flexible, especially when copying / importing surveys. I am not sure what happens to the INSERTANS codes when a survey is copied or imported. Does the copy/import process adapt the INSERTANS codes?

Yes, it adapts the INSERTANS correctly and transforms it to "QuestionX_SQ001.shown" etc.

i am a beginner to Limesurvey as well, my question is as follows.

here is the question format:
(Q1) Which of the following devices do you personally own?
Desktop
Laptop
Tablet
Smartphone
Television set
(Q2)On which of the following platforms do you watch videos (EXCEPT NEWS) at least once a month?
Desktop Computer (If selected in Q1)
Laptop (If selected in Q1)
Tablet - Online (If selected in Q1)
Tablet – Transfer videos into it and watch (If selected in Q1)
Smartphone - Online (If selected in Q1)
Smartphone – Transfer videos into it and watch
