I would like to implement the array-numbers, multi-slider question as shown in the ( workarounds section in the manual ).

I run LS 3.16+, following the instructions for the 2.6+ versions of LS, I did not get it to work.

Is it reasonable to assume that this is just not working for my version of LS and can sb. point me to what I might have to change?

Correct, LS3 has a complete different theme engine. So most workarounds for LS2 won't work for LS3.
I cannot point you to suitable solution. You will need be wait a bit. Somestimes a new workaround will be provided by the author of the old workaround.
