I feel a bit stupid because I know where to disable the "No Answer" option in an older version and cannot find the related button in the new version.

Don't . The new GUI was also a big change for me some time ago - now I love it.


To disable the "no answer" option, you will have to enable the "Mandatory" attribute located under the general attributes tab in the question editor.

Click on the question you wish to edit -> you are now in the question editor -> look on the right side where you have multiple tabs such as general, display, input, etc. (depending on the question type) -> click on the "General" tab -> enable "Mandatory".

If mandatory is enabled, your respondent has to choose an answer option. Otherwise, he/she won't be able to continue filling out the survey.

Your smiling face helped to make me not feeling too stupid.
The new layout is indeed not bad. It just was a shock for me when I saw it the first time. The main point simply is to get used to it. Improvements are a never ending story and so are changes.

Is there a setting to put all questions to "Mandatory" at once?

Unfortunately, there is no one-click button to do that.

1) The easiest option would be to access List questions from the Settings panel: manual.limesurvey.org/List_questions .

2) Change the number of questions you wish to be displayed per page (in case you have more than 10).

3) Select all the questions by clicking on the first box located on the same line with the table headers

4) Scroll down and look for the "selected question(s)..." button -> set mandatory state -> enable.

There is a global option, if the "no answer" should not be added to non mandatory questions.
Depending on the global setting, this can be changed by survey owners.

Show 'no answer' option for non-mandatory questions: When a radio button/select type question that contains editable answers (i.e.: List & array questions) is not mandatory and the "show 'no answer'" is also enabled (default), an additional entry "No answer" is shown for each subquestion - so that survey respondents may choose not to answer the question.
