You cannot add (sub) questions to an active survey. As far as I now the only way to do this is to export the data as vv, deactivate the survey, add the subquestion, activate the survey while restoring the token table, and import the vv file. Before you do this: always backup your database! I am not sure that the data table is exactly as before.

Thanks much Frans ... guess I need to balance the need to add the subquestion with the need to keep the data intact! Really appreciate your help.

You can too :
- Export your survey in LSA file (backup all survey with response)
- Deactivate survey
- Add sub question
- Activate survey
- Restore token
- Restore survey table (in browse response)
Near the same , but Restore survey work good for this kind of operation, and it's quicker.

Hi Denis,
Do you mind explain when we have to VV import instead of Restore survey table? What differences between them?

vv import offers more flexibility. For instance, you have more options about which records are imported. In addition, it is possible to edit, add or remove vv records before the responses are imported. Reactivating an inactive survey is always a risky business, of you have changed the survey. I always export the responses as vv before deactivating and trying to restore a survey.
