Is there a possibility to create an array type question with custom text (not numeric) drop-downs?

To be noted that I cannot use Javascript or different add-ons. I've seen other similar questions but the answers were focussing on Javascript or add-ons.

Without JS or plugins : no.
Assistance on LimeSurvey forum and LimeSurvey core development are on my free time.
I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH member, professional service on demand , plugin development .
