Adding conditions to a live survey was created by broelk
Hi all.

I thought I had added all of the conditions I needed to for my survey. It looks like I missed one. I already have 20 something respondents and don't want to lose the data.

How do I go about preserving the data and adding the condtion? I know I'll have to deactivate the survey but beyond that have no clue.

Hi, broelk,

before you deactivate your survey you should export your data.

And after you deactivated the survey, ... you add your condition.
Then you activate your survey again and you will find in "Responses / Responses and Statistic"

Here you import your data again.

In case that you changed a lot of the survey structure this will fail (easy to understand).
But therefore you exported your data before and can merge them to the rest later.

Or you read this: manual.limesurvey.org/Changing_an_active_survey and use the vv-export/import.

Thanks.

So even if the import doesnt work, I can merge the data in SPSS later, right?

You should not need to deactivate to add/modify conditions or relevance. I do it all the time to adjust for max limits on some questions or groups.

I don't know what to elaborate on. Did you try changing your conditions or relevance without deactivating?

Yes, you are right.
Of course you can set new conditions.
But if there is a condition alreaedy you get this:

So even if the import doesnt work, I can merge the data in SPSS later, right?

Yes, you can; but note different string lengths in the merged files. But you probably know that if you work with SPSS.

But if there is a condition alreaedy you get this:

Yes, but that simply means that there is a condition implemented via the conditions designer so you cannot add relevance. It has nothing to do with the activation state.
