Editing a completed survey was created by lintu
Hello Folks,

I have a need to allow survey respondent to go back into a survey response and edit it after it has been submitted. This is useful if a respondent mistakenly answered a question and would like to update it. Reading through the LS manual it came across to me that this is not a core functionality of LS (please correct me if I am wrong).

However, I found this script on the bugtracker that offers a workaround or solution to this - I have not tried this yet. Would this be the only way to accomplish this?

Thanks

Have a look at "Allow multiple responses or update responses with one token" - manual.limesurvey.org/Survey_settings#Tokens

Hi Tony,

Thank you very much for pointing me to right place on the manual - not sure how I missed it when I went through it before.

I have tested it by editing a completed survey and it works great!

Hi Tony,

I have another question for you - With the 'Allow multiple responses or update responses with one token?' setting set to 'Y', the survey user is able to edit a submitted survey. Is there a way to also start a new survey using the same token?

Thanks

No, it's one or the other.

If you activate this setting the participants may return to his survey by clicking the invitation link, even if he already submitted the survey. If survey is anonymous or Enable token-based response persistence is set to NO, this adds a new responses. If survey is not anonymous and Enable token-based response persistence is Yes, user update existing responses.

Ok... So know... How can help the respondent edit its corresponding survey that he submitted by mistake? Is it the token system? if yes, how does it work? can you point to the instructions?

1) Set the survey to non-anonymous.

2) Activate tokens.

3) Set Enable token-based response persistence to "Yes".

4) Set Allow multiple responses or update responses with one token to "Yes".

5) Remove the "Resume later" link in the theme.
