Matrix with (conditional) comment was created by mfaber
Hi all,
i am designing a survey with a LOT of question organized in a YES/UNCERTAIN/NO - matrix.
Every now and then, I need the possibility of text to be added by the paricipant, when 'Yes' was chosen.
Like this (not the real questions, just a silly example):
At the moment, I break the matrix after each question where I need a comment field, add a short text question under the condition that 'yes' is chosen.
Continue the matrix in the next question and so on and so forth.
I wonder if there's a better (less cumbersome) way to program this sort of layout.
Any hint welcome!

If your list is very long then it would be better if you ask "what kind:" on next page. If you are comfortable with this type of layout then I can guide you how you can do this.

Thanks for your reply and kind offer. If I understand you correctly, I would have one page with a long matrix question (quick copy/paste...Yeah!) and one page with a lot of "What kind..." and "Please specify..." questions.
That would indeed be easy to program but it's not practical for the participants in this case.
I had hoped for a "trick" to use the matrix question and still have all the comment-fields conditionally appear with the respective sub-question.
Maybe that's stuff for a new question type...(matrix with comment fields or one where different field types can be combined...)

thanks for the suggestion but I am more looking for a solution to achieve the above shown layout.
i.e. give participants the possibility to specify/comment on items within a long matrix question.
