Connect the Answers from two surveys was created by DanielFriedrichSchulz
Hi all,

Normally i would set up just 1 Survey but it is too long for our clients and too big for my server. So i split the Survey in two different Surveys. Lets say Survey A and B:

In Part A the clients choose, which software-tools they know and how often they use them (Array with 5 Columns, A1= not used). In addition, Part A asks a lot of more information about these tools. In Part B I want to ask them about the possible inputs and the outputs (and other things) of these tools but only for the tools, which have been chosen in Part A and are actually used by our clients.

I used Expression Manager (EM) to control whether a subquestion show up or not, but I do not know how to pass the answer of the Array Question (Survey A) to the survey B in order to filter the Tools (Subquestion) with EM.

I thought about adding the Array Question in B and prefill the Answer but I have no idea how to do that.It would be great if you can help me. Thanks a lot.

Hello, DanielFriedrichSchulz,
without a sample survey it's hard to a specific answer.
But generally:
To have one short parameter, you can join the answers of your array to a string (e.G. "A1A5A3A3A2A1")

Better change your answercodes to "1,2,3,..." to have just one character per array row. ("153321").

If you do this in an equation called "parameterstring" you pass this string in the end url to the second survey like " www.example.com/limesurvey/index.php/168...ara={parameterstring }

In your second survey capture the parameter and split (with substr) it again and you know the given answers.
{tool1=substr(para,0,1)}

{tool2=substr(para,1,1)}
...

See: manual.limesurvey.org/Expression_Manager#Implemented_Functions

Best regards
Joffm

Maybe there are better ways, but this worked for me.

Hi,

thank you for your responses but I am not able to fix it. Joffm here you have two example surveys (1 and 2). In both of them you will find the same question. I need to fill the question in survey 2 with the answers to this question in survey 1. If you can help me it would be great. So if our client finish the first survey he can continue later on at this point in survey 2.

Tammo thank you too. I do not want to prefill an answer by default. If I do not unterstand this URL method well, just tell me please. I need to pass the clients answer for a question in Survey 1 to the same question in Survey 2. So he can finish survey 2 to a later point.

best regards,
Daniel

Hello,

I attached your two surveys with my additions.
Of course you have to adapt the end url.

If there are more questions - open a new thread in the German section.

Bet regards
Joffm
