Hi!
Recently I've been trying to send multiple mail invitations to a particular survey, by configuring a gmail account in my LimeSurvey Instalation (current version 2.00+).
Since there are a lot of invitations to be sent (thousands actually) I started sending in small batches, but after a few hundred invitations sent, I'd get a "Can't connect to SMTP Server" error every time I try to send any amount of emails.
Today I tried sending a single mail invitation using a different non gmail sender account, and I still get this error. Any clues about what the problem might be?

Here are my global mail settings:
Mail sending Method: SMTP
SERVER: smtp.gmail.com (I've tried adding :25 and :465 at the end as well)
SSL Enabled

Thanks in advance!

I would guess that using Gmail will not work, since it allows only authenticated email from gmail addresses.

my 2 cents..

What do you mean with authenticated e
mail? The From E-Mail should be set to Gmail but since SMTP is used with username and password the email is authenticated against the google mailserver.

It looks more like he is hitting the automatic protection threashold for sending bulk emails.
Since it works for a period of time and then there is a block.

We don't know if it is a paid Gmail-account or a free mail account. The TOS of Gmail won't allow bulk mailing.
Anyhow it isn't a problem of Limesurvey. Google Support is the way to go.

I agree with Jelo here. Probably a google limit.

I answer at the LimeSurvey forum in my spare time, I'm not a LimeSurvey GmbH employee.
