Don't give up at this stage... because all of this may first look hard to understand but after it's much more easier than you can expect.
1) Please find attached a sample "survey" loading assess value & message on a single page... (there are other great sample surveys living at /docs/demosurveys/ ). Just try to look inside and overlook bases of EM syntax
2) Set your survey the best you can (until the point where you will face some issues related with assessments), provide a lss export and describe your what you want… and we will be able to give you a hand with EM code

EM Variables => bit.ly/1TKQyNu | EM Roadmap => bit.ly/1UTrOB4
Last Releases => 2.6x.x goo.gl/ztWfIV | 2.06/2.6.x => bit.ly/1Qv44A1
Demo Surveys => goo.gl/HuR6Xe (already included in /docs/demosurveys)

Excellent example. While this may seem trivial to seasoned LS developers, it's really helpful to see how simply we can report results at the end of the survey, in this case, a table at the end:
The {SURVEYNAME} and {SAVEDID} values are all in the documentation, but there is a lot of reading in the docs!
Thanks for providing a concise example.
Code:
{Q1.question} : {Q1.shown} {Q2.question} : {Q2.shown} {Q3.question} : {Q3.shown} {Q4.question} : {Q4.shown} {Q5.question} : {Q5.shown}
The {SURVEYNAME} and {SAVEDID} values are all in the documentation, but there is a lot of reading in the docs!
Thanks for providing a concise example.

You're welcome
...the best place to start with LS {keywords} is probably:
manual.limesurvey.org/Expression_Manager_Roadmap
