I created a survey, base language is English, second language is Japanese.
The survey was created through the import of txt file. ( TAB separated csv file and renamed txt. A method I used frequently for only English surveys successfully.)

Observations:
Question groups
Adding of new, editing of new and old (=imported) questions groups is possible.

Questions
Adding of new and editing of new questions is possible.
Editing of old (=imported) question is not possible. Following error message occurs:
Internal Server Error
The active record cannot be inserted to database because it is not new.
An internal error occurred while the Web server was processing your request. Please contact the webmaster to report this problem.
Thank you.

Re-exporting the survey into an txt file and comparing parameter of new and old (=imported) questions did not show any difference.

Your help is highly appreciated.

Hi emimarz,

I attached the file. (TAB separared CSV file renamed TXT) If you don't have Japanese fonts in your PC you will most likely see only "wing dings" instead of Japanese characters. For Windows machines there is an Asian language support package available; I assume the same for others OS.

Also there are a few not yet translated English terms in the Japanese part of the survey.

Thanks in advance for looking into this matter especially as I ran into a LimeSurvey bug while trying another approach:

I am in general willing to contribute to bilingual testing English-Japanese

Hi emimarz,

As I upgrade to version Version 2.00+ Build 131206, I follow your advice and it seems that the survey works now. I interpret the result in the way that the bug is solved in the latest version.

If you are interested, please also have a look at:

Thanks for your help!

Hi,
There are some fix for multilingual TSV export in 2.05. Before 2.05, TSV and multilingual are broken

And strangely : here you have a lot of question before the first group in tour file.

Can you try with;
- export lss in 2.00
- import lss in 2.05
- export tsv from 2.05
?

Hi Denis,

I will make a test tomorrow with 2.05. My brother installed last night all updates.

What is a "tour file" and what means "here you have a lot of question before the first group in tour file"?

For me the most important export/import format is TSV because this is the only format I can open, edit the content, and import. (I use LibreOffice for that.)

Hi Denis,

Using the version Version 2.05+ Build 140302 I could export an English (single language) survey into a TSV file. I could change the language (en to ja) information, file name and import it into a new survey.

The new survey works fine.

Some problems I experienced last year while importing TSV files where gone; fortunately. Thanks for your help and discussion

ROSt.
