Google Analytics step-by-step was created by geracen
Hi,

Can someone help me and guide me step-by-step on how to add Google Analytics functionality?

As I understand:
1. Register and logon to GA.
2. Create an API key (the UA-xxxxxx)
3. The site in second step should be www.example.com (without the /index.php?sid=)
4. Put the {GOOGLE_ANALYTICS_JAVASCRIPT} in the template.
Here's the question:
1. Is it enough?
2. On which template page should I put the {GOOGLE_ANALYTICS_JAVASCRIPT}?
3. Does the answer to second point differ if I want the full analytics functionality (page by page)?

I've put the {GOOGLE_ANALYTICS_JAVASCRIPT} in startpage.pstpl.
I would appreciate a walk-through, as I see nothing in GA at the moment, so I must be doing something wront.

Thanks

You can add your API key in global settings and then insert the {GOOGLE_ANALYTICS_JAVASCRIPT} placeholder in startpage.pstpl of your template (it's already in the shipped templates) - docs.limesurvey.org/Global+settings&stru...r+LimeSurvey#General

OK... Thanks.
Yes, I'm stupid. GA site had by default set the dates to 08th Jan - the reason I haven't seen anything.
So for the next generation here is a howto on using GA:

1. Register/login on GA. www.google.com/analytics/
2. Create a key (the site should not point to the survey, but to the part before index.php?) The key should be UA-xxxxx
3. Go to your surveys global settings in limesurvey.
4. Put the key in appropriate field (Google Analytics API Key). It's probably the best to set GA to track all pages as you can have more info.
5. You don't need to do anything in shipped templates, as the {GOOGLE_ANALYTICS_JAVASCRIPT} is already there.
6. Activate the survey.
7. Do the survey.
8. Go to GA panel mainsite. (select appropriate account in left-hand upper corner if you have more than one)
You should see some graphs with the statistics. Beware of the dates in upper right corner.

It seems that more accurate place to update wiki would be here:
docs.limesurvey.org/Creating+a+new+surve..._amp_data_management

What do you think?

Yeah, or at least put a link there back to the other page (and vice-versa).
