Automatically saving as they go was created by brgolds
My basic concern is that after someone completes half of my survey and their internet is disconnected for some reason, all of their responses will be cleared. What I want to know is how does limesurvey save data as someone is filling out responses? How do I minimize losing data? Does it save somewhere internally after every time they hit next? Is it possible to export partial data sets?
Besides splitting up the survey into multiple small surveys I can not seem to figure out any other way to do this. Any suggestions and explanations would be appreciated. Thank you very much.

Yes, every time you click next or previous, the data gets saved. If you get disconnected and try to reconnect, a cookie will let you resume from where you left off even if you did not click "resume later"

To minimize data loss, you can set the survey mode to question by question so no responses get lost.

Thank you for the response. where is the setting for question by question.
Also, lets say for some reason the person taking the survey has a computer crash, is it possible to access the data they had put in up until that time?

This can be found at the survey settings -> presentation tab: docs.limesurvey.org/Creating+a+new+surve...ation_amp_navigationbrgolds wrote: Thank you for the response. where is the setting for question by question.
This is only possible if you are using tokens and the survey is set to be non anonymous.brgolds wrote: Also, lets say for some reason the person taking the survey has a computer crash, is it possible to access the data they had put in up until that time?

Hi All,
Getting back on this point - anything new since the last messages couple of years ago?
Autosave would be very interesting for some surveys, or a "Save" button in addition to next or the possibility to edit the "next" button to "save/next",
Any ideas suggestions?

Facing the same problem.
I have already set a timer in the question group to auto submit when time is out.
Therefor, the setting is "group by group"
In that case, how can I auto save the participates selected options before "Next/Save" button?

A few years later again...
Wondering if there's any way to make this work so that an AJAX call could be made after a question is touched so that responses could be stored immediately -- this is very important for All in one type surveys....
