I have one set of demographic questions to be displayed to all participants. Right after there are two sets of questions (actually clinical cases)
I would like participants to be directed to either set 1 or 2 of the clinical cases
In the end I need to have 50% participants that have responded set 1 and the other 50% pf participants set 2.

Could I do that? If so, could you please direct me how?

As usual,
create a random number in a question of type "Equation" (e.g. randnum).
Set the relevance equation of your groups to
either "randnum==1"
or "randnum==2"

No, only once at the beginning of your survey.
Then you have one variable that contains this random value.
And be relevance equation you display one of the two groups.

There are literally thousands of examples in this forum.

You have 2 "paths" to go (set 1 and set 2). I assume you have setup both sets already in your survey.

The only thing you need to do, like Joffm described is to put a equation question at the beginning of your survey with a random number that is either 1 or 2. So it is the random number process that determines into which set you guide your participants. For all those where the random number comes out as 1 it goes into the set 1 and for all where the random number appears as 2 you guide them into set 2.
