I have extended the bootswatch theme and want to customize the look of it, including the nav_bar section.

However, in the theme editor, I only see a few .twig files in the "screen part files" navigation on the left (see attached screenshot below).

I do not see the nav_bar.twig or head.twig files in the theme editor, no matter which screen I select.

Do I have to copy them manually from the main bootswach / vanilla folders over to the extended theme folder (under "uploads") so they show in the theme editor? I have tried this but then the files still do not appear in the theme editor. What am I missing?

I tried a lot of things with exporting and importing again but the solution lies elsewhere and is dead simple:

In the Design Editor choose 'Navigation' The twig files on the left will change...I feel dumb...hope this helps someone!
