I'm having a little trouble understanding the various "anonymous", "open access" etc modes. Can we do this:

1) Anyone can come along and register, creating a username and password
2) We don't collect email addresses - they don't need to give us one to fill out.
3) They can use that username/password for future surveys, which will contain references to their past answers.

I see there is a workaround by editing PHP , but I'd prefer to avoid this if possible. (Maintaining custom versions of source code is a pain every time you upgrade, reinstall, etc etc)

Also, will we need to use tokens for the above?

Don't know a feature added to control that behaviour via the GUI.

Add a feature request about that idea.

The Workaround seems to be for old versions. Be careful when trying to change the code.

Just following up, I found a solution . It's pretty easy to do using Javascript to modify the templates.

I wrote about it in more detail in this blog post , under "avoiding personal information".
