Dual Matrix with Drop-Down? was created by Cars10H
Dear all,
I want to ask the participants for Roles & Responsibilities of various processes.
I would like to use a DUAL MATRIX in order to ask for each process for the current status ('Status') and the desired state ('Shall be').
The answers should be selectable by a drop-down list (e.g. 'Responsible', 'Approval', 'Support) and it should be checked, that each option is selectable only once.

Is it possible an dhow do I do it?

Thank you!

Carsten

Hi, Carsten,
what you show, is not a "array dual scale".
You show two array(numbers) side by side.
What is the difference?
The difference is in the database.
An "array dual scale" creates for each subquestion TWO data fields - one for each scale - that contain the chosen values.
As you might have seen in the manual manual.limesurvey.org/Question_type_-_Array_dual_scale this type of array is often used to compare satisfaction and importance of several items.

But to store your answers for each subquestion you need a data field for each of your columns (6 in your example).

Here an example.
I just combined these two posts:
www.limesurvey.org/forum/can-i-do-this-w...ngs-with-subheadings
and
www.limesurvey.org/forum/can-i-do-this-w...ay-dual-scale#179468 (here the title is a bit misleading, because the TO wasn't aware of the backgrounds, too)

and it should be checked, that each option is selectable only once.

This you will do by question validation.

Best regards
Joffm

And here the working example

Please make sure that people will see this in on a wide screen only. A user that finds this question on a tablet or even a mobile phone, might get confused.

Good point, Tammo.

I forgot: This issue is discussed in the post about "headings with subheadings".

Thank you, tammo for your comment. As I will use this survey only within the company, I am sure, that all will use a wide screen and no tablets or mobile phones ;-)

Dear Joffm,
thank you for your advice. I guess, I need some time to figure out the details of the solution... ;-)
