Is there a public registration feature for the Central Participant Database

I couldn't find anything at the forums and also the manual at manual.limesurvey.org/Central_Participant_Database doesn't mention it, so I assume the answer to this question is "No"?

Thing is that it is not an uncommon use case to let users register for taking surveys later. This is actually a rather basic feature of panel systems. The user gets presented a link and can enter details like first name, last name, email and usually also some demographic details like gender, date of birth and the like.

Did anyone every try to code something like this for adding participants to CPDB?
Maybe there already is a plugin for this?

I think of making a complete plugin with
1. User password system
2. A 'register' survey
3. A user managing system wher he can see : survey where is registred, not registred, done etc …
4. Manage is profil
5. Manage is email + his password

But : no time, no client, no money => no plugin :)

Thanks for your feedback, Denis. Sounds similar to my plans. I will update this post here if we start developing something like that.

I am wondering for years, why the central participant database does not have the option to register, or even better: you should be able to connect a survey with the cpdb to send the data from respondents. Why invent the wheel?

You create a survey and you link it with the Database and when people fill the survey, the database receives a new entry.

but the CPDB isn't a panel solution anyway, far from that.

Using a single survey for populting the CPDB details can easily lead to user errors so I am more thinking about copying the code for token registration and use that for CPDB as well.

In addition to that updating participant details using a survey could be interesting. Maybe using the same question codes used as CPDB attributes and have a plugin or the like map the survey response on submit to update CPDB user and participant details?

Yes, for running a panel it would be great to be able to cross check responses between the panel data and the survey data and also to feedback responses from the survey to the panel.

Mind to explain why a single survey can lead more easily to errors than a single registration form?

However, to be honest I am not quite sure how much sense it makes to build your own panel. Maybe for very specific and niche target groups or based on specific client lists from a company it might make sense, but else there are so many panels out there. Maybe some kind of integration with Cint would make much more sense. Not the way Limesurvey GmbH tried to do it, but a good integration between Limesurvey and Cint Panel might be interesting. Not sure how big demand is for that though.

Yep, at contrario : you can use Expression Manager to disallow some part and some testing.

PS : one of my client have a update system for his Client database. He use : gitlab.com/SondagesPro/TokenManagement/updateTokenByResponse
one token table for this.

PS2 : another client use another tool to update and manage CPDB

Hi, mrli999,

did you offer money? ;)

Hahahaha, wanted to say something similar.

I would also assume that there hasn't been anyone who was willing to sponsor this feature. If none of Denis' clients needed it, he probably didn't work on it.
