how to restore old data? was created by charleyhankins
Hi! I had to reinstall Limesurvey fresh. However, I need the data from my previous installations. How do I restore that? Do I just replace the database with the old one in phpMyAdmin?

Hi !
If bot installations are the same version, then, you can try pointing the connection string to the old DB.
I recommend to keep the new DB for a while until the new installation is stable.
Cheers,

We have more than one limesurvey db. Would you happen to know if there exists a method whereby I could import all of the old survey data into the new db?

OK, So you want to merge...
Server by server, export all the surveys on lss format and import them back on the new server.
If they are not too many, than the the most practical solution.
If not, you could try with the usual SQL dump (only data option).
You would have to review the script for not oversteping IDs and only exporting survey info and not master data.
(That would be more tricky)

If exporting/importing the surveys, I suggest the survey archive (.lsa) format. It will include structure, data and token table.
manual.limesurvey.org/Exporting_a_survey...y_archive_.28.lsa.29
